Shenzhen Summer Universiade

UU, the mascot of the 26th Summer Universiade evolved from the event's logo 'Happy U'.

UU is shining, lively and colorful as well as futuristic. UU is a lovable smiling face. The designer tried to break away from the tradition of the Universiades' mascots that were based on animals and plants. Shiny and colorful material helps point out to the future, without any implication od ideology, politics and religion. UU comes from the future and symbolizes the beginning of a new era.

UU, mascot for the Shenzhen Summer Universiade, is the brainchild of a design team headed by Wang Yuefei, a renowned local designer. The other four young members of the team include graphic designers Guo Dong and Xing Yishun, animation designer Wang Guanqun and 3D animation designer Li Xinyi. UU, close kin to the Universiade emblem, is a smiling face developed from the Happy U. In the shape of U, the initial letter of “Universiade”, it represents a great departure from tradition as important sport meetings tend to use human figures, animals or plants as their mascots.

"UU" is given a variety of cute facial expressions: joyous, sweet and somewhat playful. These trendy and cheerful images are designed to embody the great vitality and uplifting spirit typical of the young people, express the expectation of the host city for the upcoming Shenzhen Summer Universiade, and highlight the role of the Games as a stage where young athletes with different racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds compete and show us their best form.

Shenzhen, China - August 12th to 23rd, 2011

Stefan i Sv. Roussanou, a u ostalih 4 žive kaluđeri i monasi: Veliki Meterion, Varlam, Sv. Nikola i Sv. Trojstvo.

2 Days in Paris

2 Days in Paris (2007) movie by Julie Delpy

Julie Delpy wrote, directed, edited, produced, composed music for it, sings and stars in this less romantic, more wicked and very personal movie. (NY Times article)

Cast & Set
Ms. Delpy cast her own parents, the actors Albert Delpy and Marie Pillet, to play her on-screen parents. Her ex-boyfriend Adam Goldberg plays her character’s boyfriend. Even her real-life cat, Max, plays Marion’s pet, Jean-Luc. Scenes from the film were shot on the family compound in Paris where Ms. Delpy keeps a studio above her parents’ apartment.

“Meeting someone you love is so rare,” Ms. Delpy said, “and finding someone you can communicate with — even if sometimes it’s uncomfortable — that you have to make an effort to make it work. I personally have had a life of going from one man to another, and I just don’t want to do that anymore. So this film is — well, my friend called it ‘The Last Temptation of Julie.’ ”

Quotes
It always fascinated me how people go from loving you madly to nothing at all, nothing. It hurts so much. When I feel someone is going to leave me, I have a tendency to break up first before I get to hear the whole thing. Here it is. One more, one less. Another wasted love story. I really love this one. When I think that its over, that I’ll never see him again like this… well yes, I’ll bump into him, we’ll meet our new boyfriend and girlfriend, act as if we had never been together, then we’ll slowly think of each other less and less until we forget each other completely. Almost. Always the same for me. Break up, break down. Drunk up, fool around. Meet one guy, then another, fuck around. Forget the one and only. Then after a few months of total emptiness start again to look for true love, desperately look everywhere and after two years of loneliness meet a new love and swear it is the one, until that one is gone as well. There’s a moment in life where you can’t recover any more from another break-up. And even if this person bugs you sixty percent of the time, well you still can’t live without him. And even if he wakes you up every day by sneezing right in your face, well you love his sneezes more than anyone else’s kisses.

IKEA made in China

A Chinese store named “11 Furniture” is one giant 10,000 square meter copycat. It has taken the brand design of the Swedish furniture giant IKEA from the color scheme down to its small free pencils. The four-storey outlet is located in the district of Kunming City in southwest China, reports Reuters.

The one big difference is that 11 Furniture sells made-to-order products rather than flat-packed do-it-yourself furniture.
